Action Phonics Action Phonics is an exciting series, providing teachers with a valuable resource for the teaching of phonic skills to pupils of all ages and abilities. The series is organised in 14 self-contained modules. Each module concentrates on one particular type of phonic skill and involves the sound of the letters, not just the letter shapes. The cards are in three sections; Lesson Cards, Progress Cards and Review Cards. The children work their way through the Lesson and Progress Cards. The Progress cards are a re-inforcement of the phonic skills introduced in the Lesson Cards. The Review Cards are used as a positive check that the phonics skills in the Lesson and Progress Cards have been thoroughly learned. The Review Cards can also be used as a diagnostic test, highlighting any difficulties with phonic skills within the programme itself. Any weaknesses can then be directed to the relevant Lesson and Progress Cards. Classroom Use - Action Phonics allows great flexibility for the teacher. The structured, modular design enables the series to be used independently or to be integrated with any phonics programme already in use in the classroom.
